Brian whips out a new feature that may leave a bruise on your face.

By Brian

So my friend Allison and I discussed doing this thing where we interview each other and post it on our respective blogs.  We both figured it would be a way to introduce ourselves to our readers.

The results?  One word: superb.

I sent her some questions to start off, and here is how it went.  Everything from me will be in the light blue, and everything from her in the darker blue.

Me: Inspiration, if any, behind your blog?
Allison: As self-centered as this may sound, but my inspiration is me. Things that have related to or happened to me, something that I love, hate, wish was non-existent. The factor that ties it together is me. And it’s sad to say I think people would like it/ find my life insightful.

Why (do you) blog?
It’s the best medium. Sometimes, when I wrote in my journal, and I would re-read it, I would ask, “What would so-and-so think of this? Think of me?” So the fact I can get feedback is fun. It keeps me in check.

What makes entertainment so…entertaining? [I noticed] you always have a keen ear for events pertaining to movies, tv, music, et al…
I think it’s something I always managed to retain. I started reading young, and I was always fascinated by dance, movies, TV, etc. and other things I could emulate. I realized I had a skill of memorization.

What got you interested in music? I guess this question can be split to include what got you into movies.
Music was always a big part of my life. I’m not a great singer, but I love music. My parents were the main inspiration in that. They have eclectic taste and they can sing. Music is the one thing I can handle when the things go great or terribly wrong. It’s a constant in chaos.

[Ben Stein voice]Why is Ferris Bueller’s Day Off the most awesome movie ever? [/Ben Stein voice]
I totally heard Ben Stein in my head just now. I mean, come on, why not? He is the opposite of me: spontaneous, defiant, could care less about school. I am defiant on my own terms, but not like him. He manages to be loved by everyone with his devil-may-care attitude and charm. When the going gets tough, Ferris just flips it the bird.

Why should we, especially those fickle females who get more bent out of shape over a bad word than they would over getting a (don’t go there), feel more open to accepting vulgar language? We both curse pretty freely so I’m wondering what is your rationale…
I think cursing, as my cousin would say, is part of “sentence enhancement”. It’s more real than just saying, “I really don’t appreciate your tone.” [It] doesn’t quite say, “What the fuck is your problem?” as it should. I probably have diarrhea of the mouth, but frankly, I don’t care. Some parents shield their kids from curse words, yet bring up things at the dinner table a child shouldn’t have to listen to.

What do you want your blog readers to come away with after reading what you post?
That I’m fabulous… kidding. Basically, I would want readers to think it, and then allow me to say it for them. I want them to come away being relieved.

And lastly,

ISN’T IT AMAZING?
Yep, it sure is.

Perhaps this may be a recurring feature.  I don’t know yet.  If it does, I don’t even have a name for it.

Once she sends me her questions, expect it to be posted here.  If anyone’s ever read the surveys I post on myspace, you’re gonna be in for a treat.  >=D
