Yes, my review is up on a Wednesday and not on August 24, 2007.
This week’s episode was a little better than last week’s in terms of the humor factor and it was far more Kagami-Konata centric than the other episodes this season. This enables us to see more of the relationship they have together as friends. We are once again treated to zingers from Konata and Kagami that always generate a chuckle or two. Best one was when Kagami was saying how reading books acts to enrich the mind; Konata comes up with a quick retort asking Kagami if eating a lot enriches her body, too. Kagami is a bit sensitive about her weight, as is the case with many girls. Please do not flame me for making a false assumption since, like, I’m a guy and all that.
We also got to see the relationship between Kagami & Tsukasa and their older sisters. Matsuri seems to fulfill that archetype of “OMG IM THE OLDER SISTER AND I GET TO BITCH YOU LITTLE ONES AROUND BECAUSE YOU CAME OUT THE BIRTH CANAL AFTER I DID SO LOLOLOLOL” as she gets rather testy towards Kagami for not buying food for dinner. Even after Kagami goes through the trouble of going out longer to find the exact ingredients, her older sister is still upset at her. Don’t you hate it when no matter how much you try to please someone, it never seems to work? If there is anything Lucky Star has excelled at, besides making 6812904 gratuitous references to previous works by Kyoto Animation, it definitely has been addressing those little things in life that are always on your mind but you do not talk about with your friends because you’re afraid they’ll think you have issues, or something.
Despite the little animosity Kagami and Matsuri have for each other, it gets put aside when their parents unexpectedly return home; they were supposed to go on a trip but it turns out that they left one week too early. Matsuri, after getting on the offensive towards Kagami for taking too long to buy the ingredients for dinner, compliments her for doing just that in front of the parentals. The whole family gets together for a nice, happy dinner. It was a nice scene of family life, since 56.928% of anime have a protagonist who lives by himself/herself and they never explain why.
Lucky Channel had to have been the funniest ever as my boy Anime Tenchou, Anizawa Meito (Tomokazu Seki FTW!) was the special guest and did his trademark over-exuberant screaming and yelling that upstaged Ms. Idol Girl Akira.
ED: Minoru Shiraishi performing his beyond WTF rendition of the Lucky Star OP. This is the kind of stuff you should see if you are under the influence of herbal medicines…
Other funny moments from this episode include the parody of “24″(complete with multiple screens depicting a scene, the timer, and the loud dramatic ticking of the clock), Kagami’s endless parade of mistakes during a period of frustration (not so much funny but something we all can relate to when everything just seems to go wrong all at once at the worst possible time), and Konata’s first three career choices (LOL at [SOS] Brigade Chief being her first choice).
Screencaps:

LOL, I’m taller than you so I get to make fun of you

Yes, I needed to demonstrate the parody of “24″ using four images.

You mad? C’mon, those who know me best KNOW that I have to make a “you mad” comment AT LEAST once every entry!

My boy Anizawa Meito is pissed off that it took so long for his appearance to be made

I know some people who get this emotional at the sight of a bus.
About episode 16, I cannot remember if I finished writing my review but I’ll just say the episode was better than I thought with all the Haruhi references but those who never saw the anime or read the light novels may feel more sour and salty. There.
